Thank you for sharing the fact that you used the Orton effect. I am guessing that you masked the bird and did not apply the effect to his eye or beak. Sharing info like this helps us all learn and improve our photos.
Your guess if correct! while I love AI sharpen I do find it can over do it sometimes, so I like the options of selectively masking it out.
